Creative Local Architecture

Imaginative, sympathetic, beautiful, sustainable.

Services

I am happy to offer informal advice, designs and drawings for any project. I have a wide variety of experience, from a simple porch to a small housing development. I enjoy building creative solutions for awkward houses or unusual sites. My designs are unique to each project, and vary according to the needs and preferences of the client and the location. I grew up in North Derbyshire, so it is natural for me to design buildings within the local character, whether modern or traditional, and I am familiar with the local planning requirements. I have a natural sympathy with older buildings, so I enjoy working on listed buildings and barn conversions. Sustainability and energy efficiency is a fundamental consideration is every project. I can offer designs and details for everything from an outline siteplan, to detailed kitchen and garden designs and I can prepare and submit applications for planning permission, listed building and building regulations approval.

About Us

I have been working in my own small practice on the edge of the Peak District, near Chesterfield, since 2002. My work has gradually increased in volume and variety, and in 2017 I took on an architecture graduate to assist.

I graduated from Cambridge University in 1991 with a degree in Architecture, after which I worked at Anthony Short and Partners in Ashbourne, Derbyshire on small residential projects, barn conversions and listed buildings. After completing a diploma in Architecture at Sheffield University in 1994, I worked at Dyer Associates in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire where I experienced much larger projects: office developments, shopping centres, laboratories, and the new Norfolk And Norwich Hospital. I qualified as a Chartered Architect and joined the RIBA in 2000.
